The Scary Truth About Hair Loss

hair loss, hair loss facts, truth about hair loss, alopecia

The scary truth about hair loss is that according to the American Hair Loss Association more than 40% of American women will see visible hair loss by the age of 40. Yikes!!! These statistics are the scary truth but yet very real.

As a Master Cosmetologist and Hair Extension Expert I serve a variety of clients that come for regular hair care maintenance to ones that have more extreme hair issues.  One of the issues I see often is women that are experiencing some form of hair loss whether temporary, permanent, or somewhere in between. I stand witness to clients that has gone from a head full of hair to no hair at all and watched it all grow back again (alopecia universalis); to witnessing clients that caused their own hair loss (or by previous stylist) by wearing extremely tight hairstyles too often (traction alopecia).

If you notice any type of hair loss, extreme shedding or breakage to your hair you want to visit a Master Cosmetologist to take a look at your hair and scalp (can't diagnose) or request a referral from your doctor to see a Dermatologist so that they can further analyse the root cause of your hair loss by taking blood samples, performing scalp biopsy, etc.  What you don't want to do is to wait until it's too late to get help. Waiting too late to get the proper care for your hair may cause you to suffer from permanent hair loss where hair transplant is your only option to being able to feel normal again.  As they say, prevention is better than a cure.
